Name Golden House
Details Four-story hotel located at the southwest corner of 13th and Arapahoe St. in Golden. It was destroyed by fire in 1878. Originally refered to as the Bush Hotel.

Black and white photograph of Samuel Sidney Poe. He was the Jefferson County Sheriff between 1892 and 1894. He was a Democrat. In 1890, Poe was the proprietor of the Crawford House in Golden. He lived on 2nd Street (12th) and married Christie S. Hall of Golden on April 13, 1892. After leaving office in 1894, Poe managed the Golden Hotel that had a billiard hall and saloon, He moved his family to Denver in 1896 and returned to Golden in 1900 to manage the Crawford Hotel for a second time. He changed the name of the hotel to the Poe Hotel.
