Description Black and white photograph of Jefferson County Sheriff Casper W. Whipple. He was the Republican Sheriff from 1907 to 1909. He was born in Wisconsin in March of 1861. He moved at the age of one to Minnesota, but soon returned to Wisconsin until he was eleven years old. In 1872 he moved with his family to Boone County, Nebraska. Eighteen years later, in 1890, at age twenty nine, Casper moved to Colorado and settled in the community of Edgewater. He engaged in the teaming business and raised two sons. After leaving office of Sheriff, Casper purchased the Golden Milling Company in Golden, Colorado to sell hay and grain.
