Description Black and white photograph of Dwight Crawford, Deputy Sheriff for the Jefferson County, Colorado Sheriff's Department. Crawford was a nationally known police pistol combat shooter, winning several national championships in Jackson, Mississippi. Crawford was from Texas, hired by Sheriff Harold E. Bray, and was instrumental in the capture of Priestly Cassidy Fletcher just hours after he murdered Slyvia Marie Sheppard westof Golden. Crawford resigned from the Sheriff's Department in 1978 and moved back to Texas. Photo depicts Crawford shooting a Model 15 Smith and Wesson revelover with a six inch barrel in the basement shooting range at the Sheriff's Department.
