|Description||Black and White photograph of Republican Sheriff of Jefferson County, Colorado, Gary Kerr. He was the son of Alexander Kerr who served as Undersheriff for Sheriff Samuel S. Poe from 1893 to 1894. Gary Kerr was the janitor of the Jefferson County Jail during his father's time as Undersheriff. In 1900, Kerr married Ora Hadlow of Golden and lived at 2507 15th Street. Kerr was part owner of a minging claim near Buffalo Mountain at the head of Willow Creek in Middle Park Colorado. In 1901, Kerr purchased a ranch owned by John Nicholls, Sr located near the Industrial School in Golden. He raised chickens. In 1905 he became a Prohibition Agent for the United States Governmen and moved to a new home at 14th and Maple. In April of 1931, Kerr was appointed Police Chief for the City of Golden. He died four years later in March 1935. When he died all business activity in Golden weas suspended and flags were flown at half mast.|
