|Title||Leonard Vogel counting barley|
Black and white photo of Leonard Vogel, master brewer at Coors Brewing Co, counting barley.
Elsie Ryland made the following comments about this photo in 1991: Leonard Vogel, plant supt. of A. Coors Co. from 1930/1950 is shown separating and counting sprouted barley which is used in beer manufacturing. In 1916 with Grover Coors he was instrumental in developing the manufacture of malted milk during prohibition. Prohibition was repealed in 1933 and many young people were hired as brewing was resumed. During WWII he was with the American Nat'l Red Cross War Fund Campaign, and on the board with the Office of Price Administration (rationing). He served as President of the Kiwanis.
