A picture postcard that was owned by Dr. L. C. (Leslie Carleton) Anderson, a dentist who practiced in Golden from 1913 through his death in 1962, and who was a member of the Golden City Lodge No. 1 of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Colorado. The postcard was stored in the leather accessory case (2022.077.003) with other Masonic-related uniform accessories. The postcard is a black and white photo postcard of Buffalo Bill's casket before burial, the casket lid is open. An American flag with flowers are draped over the closed lid of the casket. Several people are standing around the casket, one man is standing to the right of the casket holding an umbrella. Back of postcard is unused. Postcard measures 3.5" x 5.25". Dr. Anderson and his family moved to Golden in 1913, where he opened his dental office in the Rubey Bank Building on Washington Ave. Dr. Anderson was elected Worshipful Master of Golden Lodge No. 1 in 1919. |
