Signature scroll, containing a calligraphic proclamation written by Conrad Gardner of the Golden Jaycees with greetings to the people of 2018, and the signatures of the Governor of Colorado John A. Love, the Mayor of Golden Charles Goudge, and the citizens of Golden. This scroll measures 11" wide x 75" long The proclamation reads: "The undersigned citizens of Golden, Colorado, of the year One Thousand Nine Hundred and Sixty Eight, proudly affix our signatures to this scroll and send our greetings to the people of the Twenty-First Century. It is our fervent hope that the opening of this time capsule will find mankind having solved the myriad complex problems which at the moment appear dangerously near to rending the world apart. Some of the undersigned date to the Nineteenth century and have watched with mixed hope and apprehension as technology has progressed to the point of granting man awesome power for good or ill. We pray that by the year Two Thousand and Eighteen man will have used his power well and that his free spirit which the bell resting above this capsule represents will have endured and prospered." |
