Copies of letters sent to T.J. Mullin from Tom Wier which were his Great Uncle Steve Forbes' letters home to Mobile, Alabama 1890-1895. These letters were sent to Mullin in 1991 to adapt them into a melodrama for Heritage Square Music Hall. Index of the letters: 4/29/1890- Problems with partners and new law affecting mining claims. Five pages in length. 9/7/1894- Letter to father telling of sorrow and pain he feels toward being a wayward son to mother. Letter also references a lost love. Seven pages in length. 10/10/1894- Letter to father telling of the chance to purchase the Crawford House, a deal with Mr. Coors, and asking for $100.00 from his father. Written on Crawford House letter head, four pages in length. 1/1/1895- Letter to mother about Xmas and the gifts which were given to members of the family in Mobile, Alabama. Mentions a "Turn of Events" without specifics. Written on Crawford House letter head, five pages in length. 6/13/1895- A Birthday letter to his Mother and mentioning the pain he has caused her. Written on Crawford House letter head, three pages in length. 8/28/1895- Letter to the Mobile Register Newspaper telling about his experience with a trip, by horse back, to Hot Sulphur Springs. Written on Crawford House letter head, 16 pages in length. 9/10/1895- Letter to his Father telling the story of eating frog, which boys thought drowned in the lake and "the Old Negro Cook" encounter with mink. Written on Crawford House letter head, 10 pages in length. |
