Harlene died of scarlet fever at age 24, only 3 weeks after giving birth to a son, Giles West Healy. Unfortunately, Giles died 2 years later in New York City, on Jan. 21, 1929, after contracting scarlet fever. The body was shipped home and the child was interred next to his mother and grandfather in Golden Cemetery in Golden, Colorado. Harlene was interred in Golden Cemetery, Golden, Colorado. The name on the headstone reads "Harleyn Eleanor West Healy." |
