Brooks Field |
Details |
Originally named Athletic Park (1893-1922), then Brooks Field (1922-2010), and now known as Campbell Field. Campbell Field is quite a historic place itself. It is the oldest football field in the west, put there in 1893, before orienting north-south was a football convention, a rare east-west throwback of the sport's early years. It is tied for the 5th-oldest football field out there, older than any in the Ivy Leagues, the National Football League, or NCAA Division I; every major university football program you hear about had a field younger than this. It's the oldest in NCAA Division II, and the five others which are older are tied with it are all NCAA Division III, small colleges all east of the Mississippi. Its current grandstands are 90 years old but do need to be replaced. |
