Founded on March 7, 1870 with Rev. Sheldon Jackson as first presiding minister. Ebenzer T. Osborne was first (and sole) elder, with three women spearheading the effort to form the church. First permanent home at 809 15th Street used from 1872-1958. Second and current permanent home at 17707 West 16th Avenue used from 1958 to today. *** The First Presbyterian Church of Golden was dedicated on June 16, 1872, and the Manse was added in 1892. The original building, a very plain structure, was remodeled in 1898 with a bell tower and north wing added. AFter the congregation built on South Golden Road in 1958, the Jefferson Unitarian Church used the church building. The Foothills Art Committee purchased this property in 1968 and it has showcased their exhibitions since that time. |
