The Briarwood Inn |
Details |
Opened by Reid Pasko in 1979 in what was once the Steve Frederick Steakhouse at 1630 8th Street in Golden. The Briarwood Inn was a fine-dining destination with a disco for dancing. An article in the "Colorado Transcript" from February 26, 1980, had this to say, The Briarwood Inn, "...with its heavily romantic flavor is reminiscent of a French Country Inn. Crystal shimmers on the tables and candles fill in the atmosphere." When Reid died in 2008, Lisa Paterson, his daughter, purchased the restaurant. Since its original founding, The Briarwood has witnessed more than a few changes. After an addition, the original 85-seat space enjoyed a total capacity of nearly 300. The disco ball dismounted, and the dancing space became a piano bar, then a tavern area. Out back in 2010, Paterson also constructed an outdoor garden terrace–a space for alfresco dining, and expanded the concept to include weddings and events, in addition to dining. The restaurant closed in 2018. |
