Black and white digital photograph of the Colorado School of Mines "M" on Mount Zion in Golden. |
Provenance |
Exhibit label copy written by Mark Dodge: The Colorado School of Mines "M" stands for Miners, as the students used to be called. In 1905, senior Joseph O'Byrne was asked to design the hillside "M" in his descriptive geometry class. Uniquely, this first hillside letter in Colorado is mathematically designed to appear undistorted from any angle. |
