Description |
Black and white photograph of the Coors Mansion. Several buildings are visible, and an ornamental wrought iron gate is in foreground. South Table Mountain is seen in background. Written below image in margin is: "Original Coors Home." On back a typed label is adhered, reading: "Coors Brewery. Adolph Coors and Jacob Schueler purchased a building which had housed a tannery and opened a brewery in 1873. Coors bought out his partner in 1880. The company began a beer garden to promote tourism which operated until 1881. This photo, ca. 1875, shows the ice house and ice pond that Coors operated. "Coors Residence. The former pavilion of the beer garden was converted into the residence when Adolph Coors married Louise Webber. It has been moved several times as the brewery expanded. One time it was turned from facing north to south at the request of Mrs. Adloph Coors, Jr." |
