Picture postcard printed by the Sanborn Souvenir Co. with a black and white view of Washington Ave. looking north. In lower left corner of image is written, "Washington Street Looking North - Golden, Colo." and in the right corner is "Sanborn P966." On the back of the postcard is a handwritten note reading, "817-15th St. / 6-5-46 / Dear Folks: I have a job out at Golden, Colorado with the Colorado School of Mines. Pay is $172.50 a month to start. It is a state of Colorado job and maybe subject to civil service. I am moving to Golden Saturday. Neil." The postcard was postmarked June 6, 1946, and addressed to Mrs. Louise Wernette of Remus, Michgan. It carries a green 1-cent stamp with an image of George Washington. |
