Description |
An inmate incarcerated in the Jefferson County Jail located at 1600 Arapahoe Street fashioned this weapon out of a variety of components. He molded the shape with wet newspapers, covered with a mixture of pancake syrup, cigarette ashes and pencil lead, strengthened by string and shoe laces. He originally intended to use the club to escape, but Deputies discovered the weapon while patrolling the cell blocks before the inmate had the chance to use it. For years, the club sat on display on Division Chief Art Nelson's desk at the Sheriff's Department until it was given to Dennis L. Potter upon Nelson's death. |
