Description |
Large framed oil on canvas painting of William Austin Hamilton Loveland. Portrait is unsigned. The painting appears to consist of oil paint on a primed, 1x1 weave linen canvas, mounted to a simple mortise and tenon stretcher. It is framed with a period frame (est.) of hardwood (cherry or mahogany, est.), carved on the outside raised edge, with a gold-leaf detailed liner. |
Provenance |
Once hung in both the old and then the new Loveland Fire Station, located on 9th and East Streets in Golden, CO. The new station was dedicated on February 19, 1927. After the Loveland Station was sold the painting ended up at Golden Fire Station No. 1, where it remained until Chief Mark Wallace decided to transfer it to the museum, c. 1996. Painting is briefly referenced in the Colorado Transcript from May 12, 1921. |
