Description |
Handmade, bookcase secretary made by carpenter, D. B. Turner, from walnut with pine as the secondary wood. Drawer bodies made out of shipping crates, several of which as stamped E. Smith, Golden, Colorado. Very decorative piece with starburst stamping throughout and elaborate hand-cut scalloping around doors and top crown. Three different styles of hardware exist. Original float glass in doors are glazed in place. Middle of secretary has wood rolltop desk. Rolltop covers four small drawers and one central cubby. Piece once used at the Bella Vista Hotel in Golden, Colorado. Bottom shelf of bookcase stamped D. B. Turner in two locations. |
