Description |
Sleigh with wooden box on one pair of metal runners; single tree 48" long. Wood is weathered with iron connections, has wooden seat, front piece of box is missing. Green paint is faded as is black trim. Used for winter deliveries by the Koenig Mercantile Company, which operated from 1884 to 1941 in the Loveland Building at 12th and Washington. The story goes that the horse that pulled this sleigh knew his route so well that he just stopped at the houses that needed deliveries. |
