The Colorado Transcript was founded December 19, 1866 by George West. It was named after the Boston Transcript (aka Boston Evening Transcript) which West previously worked on. First home was Boston Building at 1005 Washington Avenue (1866-1867); second home was Loveland Block at today's 1219-21 Washington Avenue (1867-1870); third home was Transcript Buliding at 1115 Washington Avenue (1870-1966); fourth home was Transcript Building at 1000 10th Street (1966-2006; fifth home is Ascendant Building on Rubey Drive (2006). Desingated the legal newspaper for the City of Golden by City Council in January, 1953. |
