Founded on October 12, 1873 with Rev. Carl Peter Rydholm as first presiding minister. Was an immigrant congregation which worshipped in Swedish language. Permanent home at 501 Washington Avenue was used 1874-1933. Was a poor congregation that often could not afford a pastor, so for many years member Nils Bengson kept church going by acting as presiding minister himself. Congregation later known as Grace Lutheran Church. Church disbanded in 1933. Congregation was first Swedish immigrant church in Colorado and second Lutheran church in Colorado. Parsonage still stands at 710 6th Street. |
